Perth Airport continually strives for excellence and aims to provide outstanding service and facilities for all our stakeholders – our clients, our people and members of the public.
Our success has been recognised by various awards, several of which are detailed in this section.
Recycle @ Work – Zero Hero Award
In November 2006, Perth Airport was awarded the Recycle @ Work – Zero Hero Award for achievement and leadership in recycling in the workplace.
Perth Airport exceeded the expectations of its paper recycling program, with almost 30,000 kilograms of recyclable waste collected in the first eight weeks. The program has now been extended to include plastics on the back of this success.
Recycle @ Work is an industry leadership project, run by Amcor Recycling WA with support from the State Government’s Strategic Waste Initiative through the Waste Management Board of Western Australia.
Australian Airports Association (AAA) Major Australian Airport of the Year 2004
In November 2004, Perth Airport won the Australian Airports Association (AAA) Australian Major Airport of the Year Award for the second consecutive year.
The AAA presented the award based on outstanding achievements that included:
- Recording first ever operating profit of $2.34 million and a 25% increase in EBITDA on previous year
- On time and within budget implementation of new financial, property management and payroll systems as part of a $2.1m Business System Upgrade
- Recognised revenues of $9.7m from long-term leases to Woolworths and Fleetwood
- Completed construction of $1.4 million driver training centre
- Completion of a new retail precinct on the 1st floor of the International Terminal Building.
- Completion of the Domestic Terminal forecourt works
- The successful negotiation of a three year Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA)
- An accident free year for all staff at Perth Airport
- Extension of Taxi-way Sierra to provide a second taxi-way to the International Terminal
- Two new stand-off 747 bays at the International Terminal
- A major upgrade of Taxi-way Bravo to facilitate wide-bodied aircraft access to the domestic terminal precinct.
Australian Airports Association (AAA) Major Australian Airport of the Year 2003
Perth Airport was voted the best Australian Major Airport for 2003 by the Australian Airports Association (AAA).
The AAA presented the award based on key achievements that included:
- Five-year agreement with airlines on aeronautical charges underpinning EBITDA growth
- Reinstatement of Standard & Poors investment BBB-grade credit rating
- Record growth in passenger numbers
- Introduction of Emirates and Air Paradise international services
- Purchase and take-over of the former Ansett Terminal
- Completion of major refurbishment and upgrades to retail infrastructure at the International Terminal
- Car park expansions and introduction of fastTRACK express parking
- Initiation of an Environment Management System.
World’s Friendliest Airport 2003-2004 – Skytrax International Research Organisation
Perth Airport has the friendliest staff according to Skytrax's 2004 Airport of the Year survey. Perth Airport was judged against other airports of the world including Venice and Cape Town airports, which came second and third respectively in the special category.
Skytrax, the UK specialist aviation advisors, based their awards on real quality standards and actual service delivered to customers.
The Skytrax survey is the largest customer survey of airport standards and was conducted over the June 2003 to March 2004 period. More than 4.8 million surveys were received from 86 different nationalities over the period.
